It's summertime, and things are hectic and chaotic and crazy. From the heat? Possibly...
No more LA Ink. Gosh. Whatever will the post-Kat-Von-D tattoo industry landscape look like? Less face-stars I guess...
We have a new coffee place about to open next door to us. Their coffee is amongst the best in all of Vancouver.
Just what I'm sure you all want to hear- your local tattoo studio will be stuffed full of artists so jittery and over-caffeinated that our work will look like Michael J. Fox did it. Fan.......tastic.

Web Changes
In the hope to create a website that covers the different artists we now have within our studio, we have made a few changes to this website.
* Work images are now available directly through the artists info page through the About button or the side menu.
* The main page will start to only show promotions and other information regarding the products and services we offer.
* We will be moving towards more merchanidise and sales as most interaction is via our Facebook page.
I hope these changes help to streamline this website and help your experience in contacting Kirituhi Tattoo.

New Donation fund established PINK INK
Hi everyone-
In my desire to not have any woman denied the total breast repigmentation they want I have establised PINK INK, the fund for women in need of financial assistance for nipple repigmentation. I wanted to get this going from the beginning but a recent email from a friend underlined the compelling need for such a fund who has to undergo double masectomies before she is 35 for preventative care. It is already daunting to think about someone going thru those motions at such a young age, but the financial burden is unimaginable. Help me help others. Your donations will be directly applied to the hourly rate I would normally charge along with the necessary administrative fees taken by Paypal and the banks. Right now the fund is being handled and driven by volunteers to ensure that the biggest amount possible will go directly to helping women in need.
Thanks for your support, the smallest donation goes a long way! Just click on the PINK INK button on the right hand side of my blog and do what you can. Interested parties who want their donation to go directly to a certain individual should consider a PINK INK Gift Certificate.

Samoan Maori shoulder tattoo design
Hi,
Here's the 3rd design of my latest sketches in a Samoan inspired tattoo set. This design has some influences from the Maori style, but is mainly filled with Samoan patterns.
I started with a pencil and roughly sketched the outer lines, then traced some tribal patterns:
For these symmetrical Samoan designs it's always a bit of a surprise how the final design will look. I only draw half the design and then mirror it in Photoshop. This seems easy, but it quity tricky to design the patterns in such a way that it doesn't have an obvious vertical line in the center.
Here's a picture of half the design finished:

I have been quite busy for the last few weeks, but I wanted to show you some sketches and tattoo pieces that I did. It's another Samaon/Maori inspired shoulder sleeve I did for my galleries.
As you can read in my previous post, I'm working on a new series of Samoan inspired tattoos for the shoulder, with some influences from the Maori style.

It has really detailed tribal elements and covers the upperarm from shoulder to elbow. It wraps around to the biceps and back side of the arm.
